ARCHIVED: MAVE.

This is a collection of the fragments he left behind—the man he was, the person he became, and the love that slowly erased the line between devotion and self-destruction. A story of a borrowed name, a forgotten self, and a god who never asked to be worshipped.

WHO HE WAS
Maverick Maximilian graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Australia in 2022. Upon completing his studies, he returned to Indonesia and opened a restaurant of his own, serving Western cuisine under the name “Lamina Aurea”—Latin for “Golden Plate.” Armed with the refined techniques of French cuisine, Maverick had little difficulty winning people over through his cooking. His restaurant quickly gained recognition, earning a Michelin Star after only a year of his dedication.
WHAT REMAINS
Yet for all the victories he claimed in the culinary world, love remained the one battle he could never win. He failed to turn his heart away from Aurelian Atresia, no matter how far he traveled or how desperately he tried to bury those feelings beneath new horizons. He had sought knowledge across foreign lands, hoping distance would teach his heart to let go.
It never did.
For no matter how far Maverick wandered, his heart continued to yearn for the one person who would never spare him even a fleeting glance.

The Savior I Chose to Worship

TW : Emotional Manipulation, Obsessiveness, Attempted Suicide
CW: Self-Sabotaging, Blasphemy

Maverick grew up knowing that a home could still feel empty. His mother chose another man and left him behind, while his father buried himself in work and numbers, building an empire where affection was always scarce. Between an absent mother and a father who loved through provision rather than presence, Maverick learned to grow quietly. Alone. He became so accustomed to loneliness that even the thought of wandering through life no longer frightened him.Somewhere along the way, he met Aurelian Atresia. He fell in love before he even understood what love meant. Yet he kept it buried, too afraid to let the words leave his lips. For six years, through high school and university, he stood quietly beside Aurelian and watched him love someone else. Six years of swallowing confessions, smiling through memories that were never his, and convincing himself that loving Aurelian from afar was enough.Until Aurelian became the one who saved him. When the weight of his loneliness became unbearable and Maverick no longer wished to remain in this world, Aurelian reached for him and gave him a reason to stay. To everyone else, perhaps it was only an act of kindness. To Maverick, it was salvation. He did not simply see Aurelian as someone who saved his life.He saw him as God.Perhaps that was why Maverick could never bring himself to leave.Years later, fate returned him to the same cruel place. Aurelian loved Kelana, and Maverick knew he could never truly become the person Aurelian longed for. Yet when that love threatened to consume Aurelian himself, Maverick offered his own name, his own face, and whatever remained of his identity. He offered to become Kelana. Not because he believed Aurelian would ever love him for who he was, but because he would rather be loved under another name than watch the man who once saved him disappear. So Maverick stayed. He became someone else so Aurelian could keep living. And if becoming Kelana meant losing Maverick along the way, he could accept that. After all, his God had given him a life once.

Perhaps it was only right to spend that life worshipping him.
